Sigma DP1 Panoramas

I have a love-hate relationship with the DP1. But these panos put me firmly in love. The edge-to-edge sharpness and color fidelity of the DP1 really comes through.

Long Play Panoramic Head

This is a robotic panorama head constructed from old LP records (easily obtainable from your local thirft shop).  My goal was to determine if a simple 6-volt continuous servo could rotate a full-size DSLR on a pano-head These are the steps I took for this one.

Lately, I've been working on a robotic pano head.  An Arduino/servo combination is used to move the head about 24-degrees at a time.  To fire the shutter and download images, the Olympus SDK interfaces with an Evolt-420 camera.  I programmed that system in Microsoft's Visual Studio C#.

For stitching together the panorama, I couldn't get Huggin to work (my fault, I'm sure) so bought Serif Panorama X4 for $29.  It works very well for simple panoramas; it outputs to Quicktime VR, but not Flash.

Then I found Microsoft's experimental (and free) Image Compositing Editor (ICE).  I now create the panos with that and upload to Microsoft's Photosynth service.

Last year I built what I call a ThITLE.  An acronym for "Thermal Image Time Lapse Equipment."
